I am going to start this with a journey to pick my 20 year old daughter up from Alabama. We have always lived in the northern corner or Indiana about an hour from the Michigan border. So we were in for a drive. I am not a traveler at all. My husband Kris, who I adore, loves to travel. He couldn’t wait to have some alone time with me. We have two teenage sons at home and three dogs all under the age of 3. So we set of for Alabama at 7pm Indiana time. Little did I know there is a time difference. She talks about it I just didn’t think about it. When we are driving about 5 and a half hours it is raining and we hit a pretty big pothole. We decide to pull over and stay at a hotel about an hour later. Since it is a last minute trip and spring break there is not available hotels. When we finally find one I am searching the whole place for bugs and am pretty sure you could pay by the hour at this place. We get 4 hours sleep and are back on the r0ad again. I think I notice a noise coming from the car that wasn’t there before. Kris thinks I am being paranoid. We finally get to where my daughter is and I am so happy to see her. It has been since Christmas so almost 4 months. She travels the south with her fiance Leah. So I don’t get to see her as much as I would like only 4 or 5 weeks a year. We are driving back home and when we hit Nashville, TN (which I have always wanted to stay in) we get a flat tire. We pull off the highway and change the tire. The whole time it is raining and the wind is blowing to beat all hell. We get back on the highway and not even 5 minutes later the tire we just put on blows. We pull off the highway into a hotel parking lot and start calling hotels because it is 11 at night. There is no vacancy within a 50 mile radius. All I can think is I can not be 40 and sleeping in a car. How is this happening to us? I am 41 and I had to sleep in a car with my husband in the back and me and my daughter upfront with 2 dogs. When we woke in the morning on a Sunday there were not one but two flat tires. We found a Firestone that was open and got new tire and were on our way home. Got stuck in traffic multiple time for accident. Got home at 8pm. Was never so glad to see my boys and the dogs.
